This week, Disney Parks announced that they would now allow people to download Mobile Magic for free. Disney had originally announced the release of Mobile Magic in November of 2009, at a price of $9.99 and only available to Verizon Wireless customers.
Mobile Magic is the only official source of attraction wait times for the Disney Parks. There have certainly been other wait time applications, such as TouringPlans.com Lines and MouseWait, which have filled the void. In the new press release, Disney finally mentions that an iPhone version is coming this fall, but still specifies that it is for Verizon iPhones.
Clearly there is a deal between Disney and Verizon to offer this exclusivity. Since there are a large number of iPhone users on AT&T (including myself), I would hope that they expand to other carriers than Verizon.
Have you used Mobile Magic? How do you feel it compares to the unofficial apps?
